Travel Guide
Green ridges rising above a sea scattered with islands, quiet village roads and one of Jindo’s most memorable viewpoints. Sangjodo is a small island where the journey leads upward to sweeping views across Korea’s southern archipelago.
An island made
for looking outward
Sangjodo Island lies south of Jindo and forms the northern half of the main Jodo travel area. It is connected to neighboring Hajodo by Jodo Bridge, allowing travelers to reach Sangjodo by road after arriving by ferry at Hajodo.
The island’s defining attraction is Dorisan Observatory. Located high on Mt. Dorisan, the viewpoint opens toward the Dadohae, where small islands appear scattered across the sea in almost every direction.
On clear days, the view stretches far beyond the nearby Jodo islands. Sunrise and sunset are especially memorable, while the roads leading through Sangjodo offer changing views of bays, villages and distant islands.
Sangjodo works particularly well as a scenic extension to a Hajodo trip. Rather than packing the day with attractions, it is a place to drive slowly, walk short ridge sections and spend time looking across the archipelago.
How to Get to

Take the Ferry to Hajodo
Board the passenger ferry to Changyu Port on Hajodo. Ferry schedules can change depending on date, weather and operating conditions.
Cross Jodo Bridge
From Hajodo, continue north across Jodo Bridge into Sangjodo and head toward Dorisan Observatory.

Plan your day around the return ferry
Sangjodo is reached by road after arriving on Hajodo, so allow enough time to cross back over Jodo Bridge and return to Changyu Port before departure.
