Travel Guide
A wide sandy beach beneath rocky peaks, bridges leading from island to island, and sunset views across the West Sea. Seonyudo is one of the easiest places to experience the scenery of Korea’s Gogunsan Archipelago without taking a ferry.
One island,
countless West Sea views
Seonyudo Island is one of the best-known islands in the Gogunsan Archipelago off Gunsan. Unlike many Korean islands, you do not need to board a ferry to reach it. Road bridges now connect the island area with the mainland, making Seonyudo an easy choice for a coastal drive or weekend trip.
At the center of the island is Seonyudo Beach, also known as Myeongsasimni Beach. A broad stretch of sand curves beneath the dramatic twin rock faces of Mangjubong Peak, creating one of the most recognizable landscapes in the Gogunsan Islands.
Another reason to visit is how easily Seonyudo can be combined with nearby islands. Munyeodo, Jangjado and Daejangdo are connected by bridges, so you can explore several islands by car, bicycle or on foot in a single trip.
